Ex-miners' grievances addressed

DITSHWANELO- The Botswana Centre for Human Rights in conjunction with BoLAMA - Botswana Labour Migrants Association would like to applaud the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs for the work that the Department of Labour and Social Security has done in assisting Botswana Migrant Ex-miners.
On the 26th June 2015, a list of potential claimants was published in the Daily News, calling upon ex-miners to report to their district labour offices for possible compensation. DITSHWANELO and BoLAMA are committed to working with Government in ensuring that ex-miners compensation are duly disbursed.
As part of these organisations efforts to ensure compensation to ex-miners, there was an information sharing meeting in Molepolole on the 2nd July 2015 at the Molepolole Customary Court at 0900hrs. DITSHWANELO has invited relevant stakeholders from the mining industry from South Africa, to address the masses on ways to fast track the claims process, and to officially Launch BoLAMA.
