The Botswana National Front (BNF) 50th anniversary celebrations will continue at the end of this month in Kanye. This village is the home of the man who ensured the phenomenal growth of the party. It is partly through Kgosi Bathoen and Bangwaketse that the party has remained the second most popular party after the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) since its first participation in the elections in 1969 up until it participated under the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) in 2014.
There will be an awards ceremony for members who have contributed to the growth of the party in varying ways. On Saturday 30th January in the morning, the party leadership will lay a wreath at the tombstone site of the late leader of the party, Cde Bathoen Gaseitsiwe. This will be followed by a motorcade and a rally. The Guest Speaker at the Rally will be Kgosi Kgosikwena Sebele. Other speakers at the rally will include Cde Duma Boko, Cde Ndaba Gaolatlhe, Cde Motlatsi Molapisi and Cde Dumelang Saleshando.
The purpose of having the activities in the area is to pay homage to the contribution Bangwaketse and Kgosi Bathoen have made towards the growth of the party. It is expected that all members of the party from across the country will attend. On Sunday 31st January the activities will move to Sekoma where the party members are expected to assist in the by-elections campaign.
