Is God concerned about sexual orientation and Gender identity?

The intention of this correspondence is not merely to join the debate on gender identity issues or to undermine any person because of their gender identity, but it is the contribution of a fellow sinner who has found hope in God, to encourage those who may be willing to find their true identity in Christ. If it sounds like a condemnation or judgmental or discriminatory know that I have done my best to show respect and consideration for fellow human beings who may not be like me. But the spirit of the Lord cannot suffer me to be silent in such a time as this. I hope this will be a blessing and an encouragement to someone. “Indifference and neutrality in a religious crisis is regarded of God as a grievous crime and equal to the very worst type of hostility against Him.” E.G.White. The wisest man that ever lived says “The thing that hath been, it [is that] which shall be; and that which is done [is] that which shall be done: and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun.  Is there [any] thing whereof it may be said, See, this [is] new? It hath been already of old time, which was before us.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 -10.

Is God concerned with sexual orientation and gender identity? Yes, He is! Genesis 1:27; “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them.” When God created humanity He created them male and female? These are the only two sexual orientations approved of God? This is our natural identity. Does God say anything about Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender? Yes, He does. Homosexuality is earlier mentioned in the book of Genesis 19 and the destruction of the city of Sodom, where there was a very strong and active homosexual movement. And God destroyed that city because of this sin besides others.
What about Lesbianism? In the book of Romans 1:26-27: it says because people wanted to forget God and to get rid of Him from their lives God permitted them to have their way and their women changed the natural use of a woman into that which is against nature? And men left the natural use of a woman and burned in lust after other men? And it goes on to say these people knew that God is against such lifestyle behaviours but nonetheless continued to live so; and it concludes by saying God will not only punish those who do such things but those also who support them?

To show that God did not approve of such acts; in the Old Testament dispensation some people were stoned to death for engaging in such sinful acts, e.g. adultery, witchcraft, idolatry, disobedience to parents, etc. but in the New Testament dispensation God has not given any man the right to stone to death any other person because they consider them sinful and this does not nullify the seriousness of such acts before God? Judgment is the prerogative of God. Our duty is to admonish one another to follow God’s ways and at the end of the world He will judge those who refused to order their lives according to His will. What about Transgender and Bisexual? In Deuteronomy 22:5, God says “the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” This refers to the heathen custom, quite common in some places today of a simulated change of sex for immoral purposes, men wearing women’s clothes, aping their manners and offering their bodies for immoral purposes.

In 1Corinthians 6:9, The Bibles says “know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor EFFEMINATE, abusers of themselves with mankind.” Effeminate means, a man or a boy displaying characteristics regarded as typical of a woman. This behaviour may be a developed tendency or a tendency that someone is both with, like any other sinful inclinations that we cultivate or inherit? The gospel of Christ has a solution for all inclinations whether we cultivated them or we are born with them. Jesus died on our behalf that we through Him can experience a transition from our inconsistent inclinations to His original tendencies and behaviours. The intention of the Gospel is to reshape men and women in this age through the new birth experience to be what God intends them to be? It is a complex phenomenon, what sin has done to the human race; and it is no wonder that we are born with inclinations that make it almost impossible to align with God’s original intention of Gender identity.

Neither can we blame such, for they find themselves different from others? And the society finds them strange? Nevertheless God can give us our true identity which aligns with our sexual orientation regardless of how we look or feel? We can accept ourselves in Christ as His children of God, redeemed by His precious blood. God says we do not have the ability in us to change ourselves, but He promises to give us a new heart. Jeremiah 13:23 “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? [Then] may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” Ezekiel 36:26; “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you and heart of flesh.”This change is not hypothetical or artificial; it is a mysterious real change effected by the working of the Spirit of God upon the human heart. Jesus said “… for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Matthew 9:13. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:17.

The Bible says there is no one who is good, no! Not one? For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3. Sin has not only affected our choices but the very core of our being. So it is no wonder if we are born with inclinations that are not consistent with God’s blueprint of gender identity? Let us all return to God our maker for proper transition and our true identity. If He did the first operation on Adam, surely he can take care of any tendency that is out of the norm? Yes! God is concerned with sexual orientation and gender identity; actually sexual orientation and gender identity is His idea from the beginning of humanity; “…Male and Female, created He them.” Even the anatomy of human beings testifies to this fact that God created them “…Male and Female.”

For a purpose and said to them “…be fruitful and multiply.” And this intended objective is only possible within a heterosexual arrangement not any other. For we are fearfully and wonderfully made! Although we may misunderstand even get confused, misapply and misinterpret, misjudge, each other because of our limited abilities, God does not discriminate against any person, even though they may find themselves in a gender paradox that is not consistent with His original plan, because He remembers that we are dust, that’s why He sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If we come to Him just as we are, He will accept us and teach us His ways. If we are going to understand issues of gender identity correctly, and put everything in the right perspective our reference manual must be the word of God, who is the author of sexuality and gender; only then can we get it right!
