De-registration of Bushiri's church (ECG)

Contrary to reports of 19th March 2018, the Court did not give a final interdict, but made a rule nisi returnable on 26th April 2018. We wish to clarify that the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Honourable Edwin Jenamiso Batshu having rejected the appeal by the church, and having decided to de-register the church, the church went to court on an urgent application.
The Judge put both parties on timelines as follows:
•    The Government was allowed to file their answering affidavit by 28th March 2018.
•    Thereafter Bushiri’s church will reply by 11th April 2018.
•    Both Parties will return to court for argument on 26th April 2018.
In the meantime, the court gave the church an interim interdict pending the return date not a final interdict.

It is therefore not correct that the Government has lost the case. We are concerned that even at the previous hearing held on 17th January 2018 there was a similar misinformation of the public concerning the status of this case.
