It is hardly a year since President Masisi ascended to the position of president of Botswana. When President Khama was bidding the nation farewell, he told us that he was not a present from God to us to rule this country. He said they were capable people who can rule this country after he leaves. There were great ululations and everybody believed that it was coming from the bottom of his heart.

One day I went to see the late President Masire at his residence complaining to him and asking him to ask Botswana National Library Service to purchase my book ‘The Pain of Love’ and distribute it to all libraries around the country as the book addresses a national call of passion killings.

The late Sir Ketumile Masire told me that he was unable to do so as President Khama, was likely to tell him that he had his time to rule and nobody was disturbing him and therefore he shouldn’t disturb him.

I just accepted his reasoning and now I am wondering why former President Khama is trying to meddle in the affairs of the current president. Why can’t he just leave him and carry on with his style of administration? New Jerusalem – Shall we trust you or what are you after? During Khama’s administration workers took years without any payment increase. President Masisi comes in and says the money which was supposed to increase worker’s salaries was corruptly taken by a few individuals to enjoy it for themselves.

Medication in health centres was not adequate. Students were suffering as materials for them were not adequate while a few people were shareholders of the government. Batswana were not offered full-time jobs but part time and he is saying let me try to find some ways of creating jobs for all Batswana.

New Jerusalem comes in quickly and says ‘No Mr President, Batswana are not supposed to have things like that; we are deposing you and replacing you with someone who will take orders from the former president’. So you New Jerusalem, shall we trust you that you are coming to Batswana with a clear mind of helping Batswana or you are coming to us with a hidden agenda of robbing Batswana?

SEE ALSO:

President Masisi is telling us that billions of Pula is in the hands of few Batswana who obtained that money corruptly. Shall we just support you and leave that money in the hands of the few selected people who obtained that money not through their rightful ways but corruptly?

SEE ALSO:

Let us all rally behind President Masisi so that equality can prevail and all Batswana can get fair share of the economy. Look at what the DIS used to do in the past, beating, torturing people who were believed to be corrupt. It used to be more fearful with people afraid even to mention its name.

SEE ALSO:

Now it is user friendly, you can talk of them even when they are listening to you and you are not afraid of any intimidation from them. When President Masisi is taking this to the surface, New Jerusalem is quick to say he is wrong to do that. Nobody is above the law. Let the law take its course and what belongs to the nation must come back to the nation to develop our country. Don’t come to Batswana with a hidden agenda as Batswana are now educated and clever. They no longer have that believe that Kgosi e a berekelwa. We don’t have that time to sweat for any of our chiefs as life is tough nowadays. If we are to support New Jerusalem, what blame can we put on President Masisi? If we take him out of power, do we expect to see the money corruptly taken away from the government coming back to government? Do we see the coming person harsh on corruption or we see the old DIS coming in full force and more billions taken away from the government? If you come into power replacing President Masisi, I don’t see you ruling this country beyond 2019 General Elections. We don’t want any president who is going to encourage corruption in our country.
