Interesting discussions on the sensitive subject of same sex relationships... The fact of the matter is that there is only one code that defines morality, and it is the moral law of God? Without the 10 commandments we cannot talk about morality. And it is this standard of reference that defines certain acts as morally right or wrong? It is the only standard known that explains to us proper morals in terms of human conduct. And it is not a coincidence that all other laws are coined with the reference to this great moral standard because our laws were intended to uphold the law of God. They are not autonomous. It is this standard that defines homosexual acts as wrong in terms of morals. And now that human beings are moving further away from God there are more voices calling for the scrapping off of any law that tends to govern and restrict human conduct and define certain acts and behaviours as sinful. It is actually a fulfilment of Bible predictions on the behaviour of people as times move on. And this law as given by God was intended to govern man's lives in line with His will. But because we are a fallen generation as the Bible says (Romans 3:23). This moral code seems to be contrary to our inclinations and desires. And the only way we can remove the scruples from our conscience is to get rid of the moral law, then we can no longer have any concerns about morals. Any man can do as he pleases; this is the implication of the request to remove some sections of the law that criminalises homosexuality. The same moral code has other moral sins like murder, stealing, bearing false witness, etc.? Because the Bible says where there is no law there is no sin; sin is not imputed where there is no law? Why? Because sin is the transgression of a specific law? (Romans 4:15; 5:13; 1John 3:4).
In Romans Chapter 1, the Bible says man decided to get rid of the knowledge of God from their lives so that they can enjoy their immorality and God permitted them to corrupt themselves and receive the appropriate judgement of those who do such things. As men began to change the natural use of a woman and burned with lust after one another, men with men and women with women doing that which is against nature. But men have the liberty to choose for themselves without oppression whether they will obey God or will follow their own passions, and receive the due reward of their deeds. In the Book of Genesis chapter 19; there was a very strong Homosexual movement probably like what we are seeing now in our country. And the God of heaven responded by bringing terrible judgement upon the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah! This organisation was so powerful that it actually broke into Lot's house to rape the two men who had recently visited the city, who were actually angels. And God responded by blinding these activists? The Bible actually says these people, despite the fact that they knew how God judged those who did such things before they do not only do the same but support those who are involved in such immoral acts. (Romans 1:32) One preacher said if God will permit the current nations to go unpunished for the same sins then He must apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah? When men become bold in their ideas and views that are contrary to God's law, God rises in His terrible Majesty and vindicates His law, as the sovereign of universal justice. When God's law is made void, He cannot remain indifferent (Psalms 119:126).
While we may debate in earthly courts the expectation is that we are doing so in cognizant of the fact that there is another court above, where God sits in His Majesty as the sovereign of justice. I believe this is why the founders of our courts used the Bible as the standard by which man take their oath when they stand to speak in a court of law. They take a vow to abide by the claims of the supreme standard of right and wrong? The ultimate standard of justice! So if men fail in their stewardship, as custodians of the moral law, God cannot fail Himself. He will not permit His moral law to be trampled underfoot. Earthly tribunals may agree with our tastes and preferences and form new laws that will agree with our desires but God's law is immutable, it is not subject to change. He says "I am God i change not..." Choose you this day whom you will serve...! I know it may sound like a fantasy but this does not change the fact of the matter, truth does not have to be believed to be truth. It is our theories and suppositions that need a thesis to balance them but truth can be standard alone because it is founded upon the foundation of the eternal word of God. It is as immovable as God himself, who defined Himself as the truth... "Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I [am] the LORD which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these [things] I delight, saith the LORD" (Jeremiah 9:23, 24).
