MTN Business Botswana, a subsidiary of MTN Group, intends to enable and inspire growth in the African continent and other markets that the subsidiary operates in by providing internet solutions according to the clients’ needs. The company says it intends to use its extensive capabilities in the telecommunications sector to provide relevant, quality and affordable ICT solutions to business. MTN Business operates as an Internet Service Provider in Botswana and focuses on the provision of ICT services to business, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to larger and multinational customers.
Briefing the media on Friday, Finance Manager Mthulisi Malinga said the services which they offer mostly to the financial institutions are innovative technologies that are tailor made to suit corporate customers’ needs and requirements which accelerate productivity and lower operating costs. “Moreover we provide a set of uniquely converged communications services in the ICT industry, with a focus on leveraging on our IP network and expertise,” Malinga said. MTN Business has identified three capability pillars being Connect, Communicate and Collaborate as a way to impose its intentions to the community it serves.
Solutions that MTN Business offers are Software as a Service, internet security, data centre management, cloud services, managed network services and communications solutions. Malinga said MTN Business will be different in the sense that it will offer competitive prices, tailored solutions, customer focused while providing innovative ideas as well as world class network. MTN Business Botswana has been operating since 2009. The company is said to be operating as an Internet Service Provider issued with a Value Added Network (VAN) services which limits its scope VAN Services.
At the moment the company’s focus is on corporate clients and SMEs, but intends to extend services to the residential and consumer market, which will prompt the company to develop a broadband service suitable for both residential and Small Owner Home Owner. The company says through investments made by MTN group in the seven undersea cables connecting Africa to the rest of the world, it has access to international bandwidth and relies on BOFINET for last mile infrastructure such as fibre and licensed frequency wireless.
MTN Business Botswana’s local coverage includes four points of presence in Gaborone; Phakalane, Itowers, Fairgrounds and Showgrounds and a further existing regional points of presence in Maun and Francistown.
