Mascom handed over a cheque of P290 511 to Botswana Substance Abuse Network (BOSASNET). These are the proceeds from the SMS Give and Win competition that was launched last year in order for people to contribute P2 through by SMS. Participants stood a chance to win prizes. Mascom Chief Marketing Officer Dzene Makhwade Seboni said this was done to create excitement and reward Mascom customers who donated. “In encouraging people to give, we also thought it was important to also give them something,” she said. She said that over 303 customers won prizes valued at P300 000 during the promotions. She thanked Mascom customers for the assistance they have given in enabling the competition. Mascom’s Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego said that issues of substance abuse are real. “We have a role to play by helping those addressing substance abuse issues like Bosasnet,” she said. Acting Director of Bosasnet Prisca Mokgadi said the amount means a lot to them because they will manage to pay three months salaries for everyone that works at Bosasnet and still remain with something. “That is how big it is to us and I can’t say anything more. We thank God,” she said. She added that she hopes Mascom will continue supporting them with other projects.
