The Youth Expo which was held this week at Ditshupo hall has been hailed as a success by the organisers before it was officially closed on Friday. Lawrence Ookeditse, Policy Specialist for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, said the main objective of the Expo was to help entrepreneurs access the market through exposing them to various stakeholders including potential clients and customers. He said the Expo has achieved just that due to the exposure they received during the week. He said the other objective of the Expo was to bring young entrepreneurs together to network so that they can see what others are doing and build linkages between them. Ookeditse said they were also looking to build confidence among the community to show that the local entrepreneurs are as well capable of doing anything that can be done. Post the Expo, Ookeditse said they will follow up with the exhibitors to find on how it has improved their respective businesses and if they have been able to secure new clients due to the expo. One of the exhibitors Kopo Mouti – a director at a technology solutions company Admira Solutions – said even though their organisations serve mainly the business community, individuals who visited their stalls expressed interest in their services. “At the momement we have not been able to see companies coming here, but mostly individuals are the ones who have shown interest in what we do, perhaps the situation will improve over the weekend,” said Mouti. Other exhibitors have also expressed confidence that the Expo will expose them to the new clientele and help their businesses grow.
