The Botswana Resource Sector Conference which takes place on Tuesday will this year focus on discussing infrastructure challenges; this is according to one of the organisers of the conference, Leutlwetse Tumelo. Tumelo said besides promoting the resource sector, focus will also be on the role of the mining industry in the economy. Tumelo believes since inception, the conference has played a major role in attracting investment into the sector and profiling the various investment opportunities. “This is obviously an assignment that can never be concluded.
In a competitive world we need to continuously promote Botswana’s resource sector in order to attract investment,” Tumelo said, adding that this year’s conference has added focus on mining infrastructure. The two-day event has lined up speakers from various sectors such as banking, mining, academics as well as economics. This year’s event will be the 13th conference has grown to become the largest investment conference held in Botswana. According to the conference website, it aims to increase investment into Botswana’s resource sector by bringing together resource companies, with global and local institutions looking for investment opportunities.
