FNBB customers for eBucks rewards

Determined to encourage its clientele to uphold positive banking behaviour, the First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) on Thursday launched eBucks Rewards. This is a reward programme providing qualifying customers with the opportunity to get rewarded when they purchase prepaid airtime and electricity through FNB’s electronic channels. The reward programme is expected to go live tomorrow (Monday). The timing for the eBucks Rewards launch in Botswana is said to be perfect as it coincides with bank’s 25th anniversary celebrations. FNBB Retail Director Boitumelo Mogopa said with eBucks the bank will reward customers for their loyalty over the journey of 25 years and for embracing the first-to-market solutions such as Cellphone banking, Online banking, eWallet and many others.

Mogopa further said eBucks rewards is a value added initiative which serves to empower Botswana consumers to gain greater value for their money. She said the earned eBucks can be used on prepaid airtime and electricity. For one to qualify for eBucks rewards they must have FNB account with a salary coming in every month. The customers also have to register for the reward programme. FNB Head of consumer banking Naco Balote said the programme was introduced to give back to Batswana as well as create a lasting relationship with the customers. He said this is a way to help people save their money and spend eBucks when buying airtime and electricity. “Using eBucks instead of cash will help the customers to save their money for future,” he said.

Some of the activities that attract eBucks include using electronic channels instead of going to an FNB branch, taking up a personal loan, using FNB Debit and Credit cards and utilising automated deposit tellers. Customers can earn up to a maximum of 15% back in eBucks on their monthly spend depending on the segment the fall in.  The minimum to be earned is 10% back by smart customers. “eBucks rewards programme takes our customer centricity agenda one step further by rewarding customers banking with us. It is all about saying ‘thank you’ to our customers for displaying desired banking behaviour,” said Mogopa. This programme had been brought to Botswana by eBucks Rewards South Africa through partnership with FirstRand. eBucks Rewards South Africa CEO Jahon Moolman said this programme has proved to be very successful in South Africa.
