Orange improves Orange Money

Mobile network company Orange Botswana has improved their Orange Money services as it will no longer be limited to individuals but now target businesses. The service can now be used to pay salaries and has partnered with Barclays Bank Botswana to pay allowances for the Tirelo Sechaba participants. This was revealed by the Director of Orange Money Seabelo Pilane during a media engagement session on Thursday in Gaborone. “It is very suited for paying beneficiaries out of reach of banks,” he said, adding that the system can produce reports for every transaction, and they can be printed/filed. He said they are negotiating with other companies to use it to pay their employees who earn less than P4000 as it is convenient. On the Orange Money Visa Card, Pilane indicated that they have signed a contract with VISA and it should not be a hindrance to use it where there are Point of Sale machines or any ATM. He said they have over 500 000 registered customers which is 78% market penetration on Orange Money. In 2015/16 they have transacted over P2billion.
