PPC Botswana conducted an educational training workshop to educate and empower locals on the best practices relating to cement handling, mixing and application in the brick making business in Letlhakane recently. The workshop gathered brick making business owners, community leaders and village residents as was the case in Pitsane, Tsabong, Thamaga and Jwaneng over the past month. PPC has for decades shown passion towards the infrastructural and socio-economic growth of Botswana.
“These workshops are interactive by nature and essential in ensuring that brick laying businesses perform at their optimum best for the wholesome growth and improvement of infrastructure in our country. Every building adds to the infrastructural landscape of our nation, so using quality cement and the best practices should be non-negotiable for our local brick layers,” said PPC Sales Consultant Mothusi Godirilwe.
In all the regions visited so far, PPC treated the local brick laying business owners to a draw with winners walking away with prizes which included builder’s wheelbarrows, three-legged pots and livestock.
Business owner Justice Tshekiso expressed gratitude towards PPC. “In my eight years of running my brickmaking business I realised that we were not best equipped with methods of preparing cement mixtures that would produce quality bricks. The little big things like covering bricks after moulding is not a common practice amongst brick layers in our region, and this is an example of the educational initiatives I have absorbed from PPC Botswana that will go a long way in developing the team and I for best yields,” he said.
“We are determined to continue educating and empowering local brick makers. Brick layers in Tutume, Masunga, Selebi-Phikwe and Bobonong should get ready to be equipped as PPC will be in those areas,” said Mothusi.
