Kora awards in Namibia

The Kora Awards ambassador in Botswana Kabelo Eric has revealed that the Kora awards that were supposed to be held on May in South Africa will now be held in December in Namibia. They didn't take place because of the xenophobic attacks that were taking place in the country at the time.

Eric revealed that even the submission deadline date for the music awards has been moved to July 20, 2015. He encouraged the local artists to be part of these awards because they will go a long way in taking their music to the rest of the continent. The awards will be held on   December 13. He encouraged the fellow musicians from different genres not to doubt themselves as he believes that there is a lot of talent in the country.

He said that since the monetary prize is in US dollars that is one incentive that should attract them to register for the awards. On the other hand the Kora ambassador is this weekend in South Africa where he is performing in the Love and Hope Music festival which consists of the cream de la cream of the SA gospel music. He is the only one who has been invited from Botswana to be part of the festival and he went with his band. “I have been invited to headline the gospel music festival which is spearheaded by To The Throne Music Production,” he said.
