A group of budding locals trading under the name Blaq October is planning a massive food and colour festival that will take place in May next year. Vanessa Leepo, Blaq October Managing Director, said there will be a lot of food while colour is for the fashion show that will take place at the event. Blaq October is a company that manages and promotes models. She said the main aspect of the event is to also bring businesses together for networking because there are small and big businesses that have come on board.
Leepo said the reason they have already started with preparations is to make the event big and successful. “We are still planning the whole event but we are looking into hosting it in May 2016,” she said. Among the designers that will be taking part are Naledi Thobega, Kay Designers and NessKay Collection. She said other designers who want to partake can still contact them because there is still space to do so.
She said it is on the ramp that they want to expose their models to the world in their aim of penetrating in the fashion industry which is growing every single day. She said they are establishing themselves as a brand that takes in all models of colour and races. “Our main aim is to improve the modelling industry by building up models from the scratch as we also provide mentoring activities which help models to later make good choices of joining brands and agencies,” she said. Leepo said they also want to create employment from modelling.
