It is true what they say about women adding life and colour to any event or function they attend. Women who attended the State of the Nation Address on Monday proved just that. This was especially the case with women legislators. While their male counterparts donned the usual black/blue suits and ties, women strutted their stuff in colourful designer dresses, which not only made them stand out but sought of liven up the national assembly corridors.
Same Bathobakae wore a green German print flared dress with a matching headscarf, deviating away from the usual orange/yellow UDC  party colours which has since became her favourite.  Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi looked elegant in red.  Although the mother of the house, as she is popularly known, Moitoi could have done better than go for the obvious BDP party colours.  She looked stunning anyway.
The fashion belle of the house Botlogile Tshireletso did not disappoint as usual, in her signature oversized hats, Mma Tshire, as some call her, spotted an orange dress with dashes of purple and brown and a matching purple hat to go with.  Though she as usual had a matching clutch bag to go along she this time around had with her another matching stunning accessory; her daughter Girly.
The two’s dresses almost looked almost similar in shades of brown, but each was designed to suit the age and style of the two.
The award for the best dressed, if there is any, should however go to the Minister of Health Dorcas Makgato. The lady who earlier this year ridiculed for carelessly committing the worst fashion blunder ever by pairing trainer sneakers with a formal suit and was seen in the parliament corridors walking carelessly with ease, this time looked classy.
Makgato looked elegant in a floral beige dress with orange and brownish flowers. She wore the dress with an orange blazer, a pair of brown heels and accessorised with a golden metal waist belt and a medium-sized brown handbag. To complete her look, the stylish Makgato added a bit of sassy effect by putting on oversized sunglasses.
After the government official Facebook page put up Makgato’s picture online, on the day of the SONA, the picture had by Thursday garnered 687 likes and still counting. If this is not proof enough that Makgato got it right this time as far a fashion is concerned then we don’t know. Also seen at the SONA looking beautiful and all dressed up were ministers and other legislators’ spouses. They all dressed to the nines to support their partners on this special day.
