Nowadays every man wants to look trendy and stylish. It is no longer an exclusive issue for women. Most of these men have made Legends Fashion – at Airport Junction – their home for versatile and stylish outfits. The owner Jane Matome refers to it as the kind of shop for a man looking for exclusive elegance and style.
Matome started off as a banker and went up the ladder until the position of Regional Manager. That was when she realised that she ought to do something different. She then approached Galo Centre Mall in Francistown looking for space even though she did not have an idea what she was going to do with it. But after doing a lot of research she realised a gap in the local market for trendy men’s clothes. She went head-on and set up the shop in 2009. What has made the shop to be even trendier is the fact that if you get something from it, you will be the only one having that size because they order one outfit per size as they don’t want their clients to wear something that they will find five more other people having.

Quality is what they pride themselves in, and top flyers in the country turn in numbers for exclusive wear. Matome said they decided to open another shop in Gaborone after the Francistown to cater for the capital city’s market. The shop has a partnership with Sprint Couriers where they deliver to their clients around the country. “Our customers stay because they are assured of quality, and most of them are people of higher ranks and that is why we have quite a flexible service for them,” she said. She doesn’t order her stuff, but she buys directly from Europe from the trendiest fashion labels for men in Italy, Germany, USA and Paris.

She has many offers to open the shop in many malls around the country. She said she takes her time to assess the market in every place that she is asked to have a mall in. She has even got an offer to open the shop in Cape Town, but she believes she has not yet achieved what she wants locally to be able to go outside the country. Some of the trendy labels that are in the shop are the Carducci brand, which has very colorful suits. They also have Polo, House of Monotiac and the trendy shoes for men from designers like Crockett and Jones, Barker and Florseim.
