Gospel Wagon competition launched

Media personality Gugu Mavuma is launching a gospel signing competition called Gospel Wagon. He said that they came up with the show after realising that gospel has been neglected in the country. “We have taken it upon ourselves to uplift and develop the country in this regard,” he said. The final winners of the competition will be crowned on April 29. He said they have already started their registration process. The winner takes P100 000 cash prize, a trophy and a recording deal. According to Mavuma, during the final day they will have scouts that will be looking at passionate individuals to complete the BOT Praise and Worship choir that will then travel the country and abroad singing. They will be working with the talented singer, songwriter and producer Tshepo Lesole who will be one of the judges. Odirile ‘Vee’ Sento will be the MC for the day.

He said that all the churches that will register for the competition will win something from the competition.  “This is to enhance the unity of the churches,” he said. Mavuma said registration is unrestricted and urged churches to take the competition seriously, because there are people who sing in churches who can actually be making a living out of it. The gradual selection stage will involve the public until the final day. At the finals the choirs will render three songs, one main song, one given by organisers and the one tossed out to determine the versatility singers. Judges will be looking at the choreography, appearance and the quality singing. A South African act will feature in the finals.
