Ten young people trading under the name ‘Buddies on a mission’ have launched fund raising activities to assist needy youth. One of the group members Roshni Motswakgonnye they set up to help raise money for the underprivileged. They are planning a big concert that will run from 6pm until late on April 30, 2016. At the moment they are looking at the suitable venue for the event. She said that so far everything is going on well with Heineken coming on board to sponsor them with the venue after showing so much interest in the concept.
She appreciated the overwhelming support that they have got from Batswana because many of the artists and DJs that will be performing have pledged their services for free, among them the likes of Mahempe, Flexiville and Ricky Lamar. “There will be a lot of artists and DJs, and everyone is very excited to be doing this for charity and even the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Thapelo Olopeng promised us his support,” she said. Motswakgonnye revealed that Black and Gold will be the theme colours for the night. They will also be selling the black and gold T-shirts.
Motswakgonnye urged many young people to come on board because the money that they will pay to enter will help a lot in making someone’s life better. They will work with the Department of Social Welfare to determine who the beneficiaries should be. “We know how it was growing up and not having everything. We want to help those young people who are growing up in such families that cannot provide for them with whatever they need,” she said.
