Pula Medical Aid has recently launched their new offering – Pula baby – which targets pregnant women and the newborns. According to Pula Medical Aid Senior Sales Executive Pearl Motshegwa, pregnancy is a special period of one’s life – requiring a peace of mind for the expectants. In this they have partnered with DLA Group from South Africa to offer the programme to their members at no additional cost. “We send weekly informative emails on each stage of the pregnancy to Pula’s moms, update dads on the baby’s growth, each trimester the baby team check on the mother and screen for any health risks, call prior to birth and check them after the birth where during this time they receive a handy bag packed with goodies,” she said. The partnership with DLA Group has been localised in Botswana through Serurubele Centre which provides maternity care programme administration, pregnancy classes, antenatal classes, post birth and support groups and talks, quality baby and toddler products. “Pula moms have access to an initial enrolment that aims to enlighten moms on the pregnancy in regard to things like complications in pregnancy, birth options, breastfeeding and creating a birth plan,” she said. Motshegwa said this will enable the expectant mother to enjoy a lot of benefits like discount vouchers off products at merchants in Botswana and South Africa and a Serurubele discount loyalty card offering. Serurubele Centre Director Deryse De Faria said with medical evolution many women have become disempowered to make best birth choices for themselves; therefore there are classes for the members in order to understand what they are capable of, the options available, benefits and risks in certain situations.
