The BOT50 celebrations Coordinator Charity Kgotlafela says they are looking for 400 people to feature in a production for BOT50 that will depict the journey that Botswana has embarked on since 1966. Auditions are due to start for the production that will be showcased on September 19. A whooping P14m has been allocated for the production led by local company Red Pepper.
Kgotlafela promised that the budgeted money will be used well and are after great talent. “We are going to try by all means to be inclusive and wherever we lack please bear with us because we are humans,” she said. Three judges – Shanti Lo, DJ Sly and Mbali Kgosidintsi – have been selected based on their skills and expertise.
Kgotlafela said the talent search will be done publicly and broadcast on television. She said they will engage in a choreographed line of activities and urged the private sector to come on board. She said they have given themselves up to July to do the search across the districts. When asked whether they will be able to produce a production of that magnitude in a short time Kgotlafela said they planned this very well and time will not be a problem. P100m has been set aside for all the BOT5O activities, she confirmed.
