Botswana Insurance holdings Limited (BIHL) hosted a high end wine and cheese event at the National Museum on Thursday evening drawing in a top deck guest list of the country’s corporate elite. The event was an art promotion initiative in which BIHL partnered with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture. The artworks exhibited were from the country’s top artists who excelled in this year’s presidential competitions. BIHL had sponsored the prizes for the artists. Head of Visual Arts at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture Monica Selelo led the tour of the exhibition, explaining to guests the inspirations behind the artworks and how they can purchase them.
“There are so many things that we can do with artworks especially in regard to decorations and making the offices to be stunning,” Selelo said. Barclays Managing Director Reinette van der Merwe was on one of the first people to put a sticker on the product that she wanted to buy. The guests included BIHL CEO Catherine Lesetedi-Letegele, BIHL Chairperson Batsho Dambe Groth and FNBB CEO Steven Bogatsu and members of the diplomatic corps. Mmamontshonyana Ditshekiso – referred to as the best in traditional pottery – was also in attendance and the BIHL chairperson Batsho Dambe-Groth urged her to make products for the market, acknowledging her beautiful work.
