Moroka over the moon about SA gig

One of the best poets in the country Moreri Moroka is growing his profile in the region. He will perform at the Inaugural Monate wa Poko Festival in Gopane, South Africa on September 17. He is excited about this because that shows that his talented is appreciated even beyond Botswana. “Being recognised by people from a different country is very humbling, and that is why I am all excited about this event because it shows that the Tswana speaking people from that side are hungry to learn more about Setswana from Batswana in Botswana, which means cultural exchange,” he said. Moroka said it is important for young people to know and understand that they can be in a suit and at the same time change to uphold and show that they are proud of their culture. “Many people sometimes don’t recognise me when I am wearing a suit because they think I am always in traditional leather outfits, but that is the beauty of it. It shows someone can still be able to embrace their culture despite their ranks in society,” he said.
