Pageantry school opens

An academy for grooming beauty queens has been opened in Gaborone. It trades under the name Diamond Pageantry Academy. The school is now open for registration which will close on February 26. The school will offer specialist and professional services to individuals who wish to venture into different paths in the beauty world. The academy’s spokesperson Katlego Mendry, who is also a beauty queen, revealed that they are committed into making sure that they develop beauty queens from a very young age of seven years. “We want to turn them into the most excellent, talented, intelligent and elegant and poised individuals who can be able to compete,” she said. She said their academy has involved Botswana’s highly recognised beauty queens and models who have tremendous international experience. She said the academy will offer a three months transition programme to those aspiring beauty queens and during the weekend they will engage in classes that cover topics like pageantry walk master class, pageantry etiquette, modelling, image and personal branding, project presentation skills, fitness and health, basic life principles and talent development. She said upon completion of the transition programme the graduates will be competent enough to participate in fashion shows, national and international pageant competitions, become emcees or television hosts, become brand ambassadors and to be able to feature in commercials. “For continuous assessment and a guarantee that the graduates stay up to date with the recent pageantry skills the school offers life mentoring and refresher training programmes,” she said. She said the course costs only P850 per month.
