The hospitality life in Gaborone will soon be expanded with the addition of an internationally trusted brand, the Gaborone Hilton Garden Inn Hotel. The hotel, which is situated in the CBD, is a franchise between Hilton Worldwide and Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund. Gaborone Hilton Garden Inn Hotel is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2018. BPOPF Chief Executive Officer Boitumelo Molefe said the contractor is running under a very tight schedule to deliver the project in time. Molefe said the hotel is a milestone on its own as it will bring a difference in the hospitality industry locally. The P300 million project is under the management of Messidor with Group 5 being the main contractor. Speaking on behalf of the asset manager Messidor, Victor Senye, said they have since reached a milestone in constructing a mock up room of how the hotel rooms will look like. Senye said Hilton International is about to approve the design and finish of the rooms after which construction will continue. The media on Tuesday was taken on tour of the mock up Room. Messidor revealed that Hilton International requires the hotel to be constructed to their international standards. It is for this reason that a mock-up room had to be constructed to illustrate how the hotel will be. Representatives from Hilton International are said to have visited the site this week for assessments. Senye said they have since received reviews from the group and the comments are being incorporated. The project is said to be constructed in two phases with the commercial wing that include office space expected to be finished between July and August. The actual hotel is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2018. The Gaborone Hilton Garden Inn Hotel will be having 147 rooms, a health club, outdoor swimming as well as complementary Wi-Fi and more than 400 square metres of meeting space. The hotel is expected to serve the needs of travellers seeking a trusted international hotel brand in Botswana.
