The 2017 Shell Motor show will take place on May 12-14 at the Game City Roof Top Park. There will be new car launches and display of exotic super cars together with gaming, raffles, prize give away, DJ music sessions, kids’ play areas, go kart, remote racing and various forms of entertainment. Since inception, the show has become a major highlight of Botswana’s automotive calendar. Exotics super cars are crowd pullers at motor shows. One of the organisers of the event Lynn Marie said they want to make the event a good clean fun for the whole family and that is why there are many activities that the family can take part in. She said first time visitors will be assured of a comprehensive profile of Botswana’s automotive industry from the local dealers, complementary and supporting businesses alike, lifestyle brands and government departments. “Motor shows are very important to any motoring industry as they offer an excellent opportunity for dealers and manufactures to get valuable feedback on their products while also offering a unique sale platform,” she said.
This is also expected to give automotive dealers the ideal space to influence brand perception by exhibiting both current and future models so as to offer a glimpse into the company’s future direction and when combined with concept cars it can show what they are capable of also. “This also provides a comprehensive profile of the major business operative in the automotive industry from passenger and commercial vehicle brands and their dealerships to parts, accessories, fuels, lubricants plus finance insurance companies,” she said. The Botswana auto brands that will be seen at the show are Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Jaguar, Renault, Volvo Trucks, Scania, Subaru, Peugeot and many others. Exhibitor profiles range from classic cars, construction vehicles towing and recovery, power products and agriculture vehicles to car rentals. Tickets for the event are sold at Shell Filling stations in Gaborone, Sunglass Kiosk in Game city, all Urban Soul stores and online while kids under- 7 years of age get in for free.
