The Grand Palm Hotel’s 70s and 80s festival returns on June 2, 2017 and as usual the grown up folks are set for a time of their live. The annual event – dubbed ‘Battle of the decades’ this year – will have revellers jamming to Glen Lewis, Douglas Mosadi and Dj Jazzy Dee and Botswana’s own in DJ Bax, DJ Dolphus, DJ Choto and DJ Ski.The event has over the years proven to be a hit amongst the grown up folks and professionals who always look up to it as one of the events that helps them unwind while taking them down the memory lane. One of the organisers for the event Vince Mosimanewakgang said this is a flagship event for Grand Palm Hotel – a lifestyle get together that brings about the colourful drinks, the music, the ambience, the décor while creating an environment suitable for the theme. He said the indoor event always features artists from both Botswana and South Africa. It has over the years grown tremendously with many people always looking up to it. “I can assure you that we are taking up the entire hall (GICC) and everyone will be catered for, so everyone should come and be merry,” he said, saying all logistics are in order. He urged revellers to buy their tickets on time and avoid having to queue by the entrance. He encouraged everyone to oblige with the dress code and dress to impress because there will be prizes to be won during the night. “It is funk, disco, pop and just taking people back in time and there will be awards for different categories, so people should just come out to have fun,” he said. He reached out to both the young and the mature to come and enjoy themselves where he said they are looking at about 1300 people gracing the event. He said the DJs are chosen based on their popularity and their musical prowess.
