Dihdah: The best at Masa Fashion Show

Fashion couple Candida Montsho and Wedu Montsho of Dihdah scooped the designer of the year award at the Masa Fashion Show last week. The duo will now get a chance to showcase their latest collection at the Core Fashion Show in Kenya set for November 7 -11. The Masa fashion show was a culmination of a seven months journey that enrolled 12 young designers for a grilling mentorship programme. Twelve designers took to the stage to showcase their best outfits, and on top of that, for the first time each designer had a mentee, which means that there were also 12 mentees who paraded their designs. The mentees were being taught by the seasoned designers and had the chance to go through training in regard to different aspects of running a business and growing a brand. The fashion show was top notch with models that matched world standards. Candida expressed excitement at winning though she was sick throughout their whole design process. “It can only be God. We have gone through a very challenging time when we were designing these outfits and I am glad we came out the best. The show was such a beautiful platform and it was all done incredibly well,” she said. Seasoned designer Kaone Moremong of House of Kay appreciated the show for the opportunity it has given her since it started. “The fashion show was life, backstage was life, models were life and makeup and hair were life,” she said. She applauded her fellow designers for bringing their A game because they proved the massive talent that this country has. She applauded Dihdah team for their line that scooped them the best designer award and also an opportunity to go outside the country. Masa Square Hotel General Manager Greg Soutter said as they redefine the hospitality industry in Botswana, they also want to give back to the young people of this country. He said the 12 budding fashion designers stunned them and indeed made them proud with the top quality clothes that they made. He thanked everyone who took part in the show and those who have made it successful and one of the best in the country.
