Botswana Tourism Organisation will host the Heart of the City Carnival on December 16, 2017 in Gaborone. The event will start at the Main Mall in Gaborone at 3pm with an array of events from parades, culinary offerings, fashion show, music festival, chef demonstrations, arts and crafts display. BTO is coordinating the event in partnership with African Point Solutions and Epiphany Royals. Lone Nthobelang of Epiphany Royals said the annual event is aimed at showcasing the heritage of the city and at reviving the rich historical background of Main Mall, hence the theme ‘Heart of the City’. “Botswana has a rich heritage of cultural diversity existing within the ethos of the tribes and this heritage can be expressed through dress, song, dance, language and food,” Nthobelang said. Some of the artists that will be performing the carnival are Freshly Ground, Mango Groove, Sereetsi and the Natives, Mpho Sebina, Singer and Guitarist Cedric David Ncube. Top Chef Presenter, Celebrity Cook and food enthusiast Lorna Maseko will grace the event. With an array of different offerings from fashion to food and music, the organisers have promised that the carnival will be a show stopper. The early bird tickets which were sold for P150 have been closed, and as from the 1st of December tickets were sold for P250.
