Artists come together for Phikwe

In an effort to revive the city of Selibe-Phikwe entrepreneur and motivator Matlhogonolo Mponang spearheaded the ongoing fashion and art exhibition that is taking place at the Issues Fashion Studio. The exhibition features very talented artists from Selibe-Phikwe among them fashion designer Mpho Kuaho and the very talented new kid in the block Prince Tom. When this was launched it was all about food, cheese, wine, artworks and great designs all together in one place. The sales of artworks that are being exhibited are expected to be used in building libraries. The artists will donate 5% of the money to the building of this library at Tlhalosang CJSS in Chadibe which is a school that has been adopted by Mponang. All fashion items from Kuaho are selling at P200 a piece. Mponang said she was propelled to partner with other stakeholders in hosting the art show dubbed ‘Fashion Meet Arts’ with the theme ‘Selibe Phikwe Reawakening, Never Dying’. She said they were able to feature 10 of the artists’ best pieces. Those who grew up in Phikwe were assured of automatic slot and this included the likes of the talented Prince Tom. There were five slots for those artists who did not come from Selibe-Phikwe. “This is a fully fledged and international standardised art show with proper installation of pieces display with presentation costs borne by ourselves,” she said. Mponang encouraged everyone including corporates to pass by the studio to see the exhibits and buy the items that they love for their offices and even for their homes.
