DJ LEXY J: I’d like to know your relationship with music, when did the love begin? How far back can you remember?
MASIRE: I have a very strong relationship with music, my mother loved music, so I was born into loving music. I always loved music as a young child especially around when Channel O started.
DJ LEXY J: What kind of music do you love and how often do you indulge yourself?
MASIRE: Music for the occasion and usually mood based. etc. … gospel for God’s lift; RnB for old times’ sake; top hits for what’s new. I host my audience, my children, their kind of music and I also indulge regularly especially when I am driving and tiding up.
DJ LEXY J: How has music influenced your life over the years?
MASIRE: It has turned out to be my favourite counselor. It keeps my sanity and has shown me that problems, love and happiness are universal. Good beats and lyrics usually take over my mind and allowing me to escape to a happy place for a while.
DJ LEXY J: Does the music you listen to now differ from what you listened to growing up?
MASIRE: Not really; I still listen to old music but the playlist has increased.
DJ LEXY J: Can you think of any particular music/song that you associate a memory, mood, or place with?
MASIRE: Many! Country music; my mom. RnB takes me back to my tertiary days (my roommate). House music; a good party and my best friend. The new/young music; my kids. Afro beats; my cousins’ car. The list can go on, Lexy.
DJ LEXY J: What is your all-time favourite song(s)?
MASIRE: SWV - love will be right here; 2Pac- Dear mama; Whitney Huston – the children are the future.
DJ LEXY J: Who is your all-time favourite artist, and why?
MASIRE: Whitney Huston; she has such a beautiful voice and profound messages in the lyrics, and her instruments never let me down.
DJ LEXY J: What’s on your playlist and how do you choose the music that goes onto it?
MASIRE: Currently it’s Hillsong, Gospel, a few local hits and RnB classics (the kind everyone my age know the lyrics to) ha-ha!
DJ LEXY J: So long, have yourself a super duper day!
MASIRE: Thank you for the honour and for engaging me. Music is very close to my heart, its special.
