Local journalist Dumisani Ncube has launched a podcast dubbed – the 20th Avenue – to feature local and international celebrities.
Ncube’s passion in multimedia journalism prompted this initiative though aware that locals as tuned on onto this as other markets.
Ncube to go through this not so popular route to make sure that Botswana is also at par with the rest of the world. “The podcast which is similar to a radio show aims at telling Botswana and African stories to an international audience with the hope of branding the nation and the continent from told stories,” he said. Ncube records interviews at his studio and then share them online to reach a wider audience.
Having featured the likes of South African artist Tuks Senganga, Web Developer Itumeleng Garebatshabe and Miss Botswana Nicole Gaelebale, the podcast’s popularity is gaining momentum both at home and abroad with many Batswana warming up to it.
“I have always been a fan of podcasts where in a day I listen to podcast from all over the world and it is so amazing that I decided to tap into this market which can definitely lead to podcast from home being listened to all over the world the way I listen to such,” he said.
With expertise in multimedia and making podcasts, he does not want to be the only one that benefit from such but rather he implores upon other Batswana to venture into that. His aim is to grow audience and ultimately launch his own online radio.
