The inaugural Botswana Gospel Music Awards (BOGMA) was launched in Gaborone on June 28 and will take place on August 4.
The public will vote to determine the eventual winners in all the 28 categories competed for. Honourary awards will be bestowed on the legends of the gospel music industry. “This will be an annual event. The project has been welcomed very well as tickets are selling very fast and one would think this is an old project,’’ said event promoter Gilbert Seagile.
The awards ceremony promises to be a night of glitz and glamour as the modern day trendy outfits and classy vehicles shall be ushering in the guests and nominees during the event.
“The ceremony will be graced by guests from Swaziland now eSwatini and Namibia for a cultural exchange with BOGMA. This goes on to really show that this project is trending,’’ said Seagile.
BOGMA is in partnership with the community and churches some of which are buying and reselling tickets. “The voting lines are open to Mascom and Orange mobile network users and the voting codes start with GMA (Gospel Music Awards) followed by the artist’s unique code to the number 17272,” said Tshepo Ngakayagae, the projects marketing officer.
