A Dressage Clinic was held at Penndragon Equestrian Centre, Ruretse, on August 27, 2018 by kind permission of Sean and Belinda Irish.
The visiting instructor was Caroline Potts from South Africa. Caroline is an FEI International 3* Para Judge and has been judging and teaching dressage for over 30 years all over Africa. She uses a small intercom system speaking quietly from her own mouthpiece to a speaker attached to the rider’s ear.
She was accommodated at the home of Sean and Belinda Irish and driven from and to the airport by Belinda. The arena was prepared, watered and raked by Theunis Botha and Tatenda.
This clinic was perfectly timed for the upcoming Herbie’s Haven Dressage Challenge next weekend 1st/2nd September, the third in a series of four competitions this year. The riders were more than happy about their experiences.
“Thank you to the Irish’s and Penndragon for a fabulous two days of lessons with Caroline. I have loved it and really enjoyed being challenged with a new way of putting different exercises together. I felt a difference in my horse’s way of going today,” said one of the riders.
Another declared: “Caroline has a wonderful calming and respectful manner with both the rider and the horse. I love that she was able to share her wealth of knowledge with us here in Gaborone. I am excited to put into practice all that I have learned the last two days”.
Yet another said: “Botswana riders are so lucky to have this amazing opportunity to be instructed by such a highly regarded and well known dressage judge who has judged all over the world”.
