Masa’s new executive chef

Masa Square Hotel has appointed Mellisa K. Ngoni as the business first hotel’s Executive Chef, a role she took up in June 2018. A renowned chef in the hospitality industry, Ngoni brings a dynamic, innovative energy to the dining experience at the hotel.

A veteran in the culinary field, Chef Ngoni brings over a decade’s experience from around the country. Melissa is a highly motivated and capable professional cook with a real passion for preparing popular, healthy and nutritious meals.


Said Masa Square Hotel General Mananger, Greg Soutter,”These are exciting times for the hotel as we welcome our first ever female chef. As Executive Chef, Chef Ngoni oversees the hotel’s kitchens, including our signature Don Carlos restaurant – Carlitos, as well as Absolut lounge and bar. Chef Ngoni also oversees the hotel’s in-room dining and banquets. She also oversees the catering for events ranging in size from small meeting to large weddings of more than 500 people.”

Chef Ngoni holds a Diploma in Food Principles and Practices of Culinary Arts from H.T.A School of Culinary Arts (South Africa), Diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts (British Council), Certificate in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts (British Council) and Foundation (Hospitality: Hotel Management & Catering). Ngoni has a background in conducting internal training for the kitchen brigade which produces high standards in Food hygiene and safety. In 2013 she took part in developing a program of Culinary Arts for Botswana‘s Technical colleges.


On her new role with Masa Square Hotel, Chef Ngoni said, “I am truly honored and look forward to further exploring my culinary career with this esteemed hotel. I believe in staying true to the country’s cuisine, never confusing flavours and am excited to provide guests with the best that Botswana has to offer.”

A firm believer in living a healthy lifestyle, Chef Ngoni has also created a new menu that caters for the health-conscious, so even when traveling for business guests are assured of eating a healthy scrumptious meal.
