Graded dressage and jumping series

Show 3 of the Graded Dressage Series and Graded Show-Jumping Series took place recently at Notwane Equestrian Centre.

The Dressage and Show-Jumping Judge was Eileen Pienke.  The Show-Jumping Course Designer and Course Builder was Sue Bookbinder.

The entry fees for dressage and show-jumping were P100.00 per class which included the Officials Fee of P60.00 and the Grounds Fee of P40.00.  Day stabling cost P40.00 excluding bedding. Stabling for the duration of the show cost P80.00 with the bedding provided. Owners and riders had to hold HSB membership and all horses/ponies entered be registered with HSB. No horse could compete in more than three classes per day.

The dressage classes started at 7.30am on Saturday and 8.00am on Sunday. On completion of the dressage tests the show-jumping course was open for walking and the jumping started without delay and was completed by late morning since the temperature soared to 40degrees on both days.

For the competition on Sunday Sue built a fabulous course of eleven jumps with thirteen jumping efforts comprising of five uprights, four parallels and two double combinations and three changes of rein. Jump one, a red, white, yellow and blue parallel was approached through the start on the right rein, land right and around to jump two, a black and white parallel, straight on in five strides to jump three, a blue, black and white Botswana Flag upright, land left and around to jump four, a red and white upright, land left and around to jump five, a blue and white upright, straight on in six strides to jump six, a red and white parallel, land right and around to jump seven, a double combination of a white, red and blue parallel and two strides to an upright, land right and around to jump eight, an orange and white upright, land left and around to jump nine, a white, orange and blue parallel, land left and on to jump ten, a double combination of a white, blue, yellow, green and red upright and one stride to an upright, land left and around to jump eleven, a yellow and white upright and through the finish.

The jump off course was jumps two, three, five, seven A and B, eight and nine.

 The second course on Sunday had eleven jumps with twelve jumping efforts and five changes of rein comprising of six uprights, four parallels and one double combination. Jump one, a red and white parallel was approached through the start on the left rein, straight on in six strides to jump two, a blue and white upright, land right and around to jump three, an orange and white upright, land left and around to jump four a yellow and white upright, land right and around to jump five, a white, blue, yellow, green and red double combination of an upright and one stride to an upright, land right and around to jump six, a white, orange and blue parallel, land right and around to jump seven, a black and white parallel, land left and around to jump eight a red, white and blue parallel, land left and around to jump nine, a red, white and blue upright, land right and around to jump ten, a red and white upright, land right and around to jump eleven, a blue, black and white Botswana Flag upright and through the finish.
