Botswana Railways Recreational Club will on March 30 be a beehive of activities for the first ever Colour Run in Mahalapye. It will be hosted by Fresh Brands. The Colour Run is a 10-kilometre and five-kilometre (5km) run and walk scheduled to start at 06:30am and 07:00am respectively. Hundreds of participants – ‘Colour Runners’ – will be doused from head to toe in different colours at each kilometre and as a result are required to come wearing white t-shirts.
“As this is the first for the town, the Colour Run aims to continually grow and innovate whilst adding components to the event annually, in addition to giving premier customer service from the BR Recreational club. This kind of activity presents a good opportunity for parents to spend quality bonding time with their kids and paves the way for parents to establish open communication lines with their children in a fun filled environment,” says Ben Tobedza, Colour Run Event Coordinator. The Colour Run will accommodate everyone from first time runners to seasoned athletes with an entry fee of P100 for adults and only P50 for kids. Participants will also be treated to a full day of supercharged entertainment, with drinks and snacks on sale and other facilities which include a swimming pool, showers post running, bar services and the restaurant housed at the club. As the day activities wrap up, the evening will be ushered in by DJ Dolphus and DJ SKI with oldies into the night.
“We are always looking for opportunities to embrace a worthy cause that can benefit the Mahalapye community and surrounding areas as well as have a direct and positive impact on locals. The Colour Run will help everyone in the region make a commitment to a healthier and happier lifestyle, doing so while having fun and in the most colourful way,” Tobedza said.
