Tshepo Modise, popularly known as Dj Billy has changed careers from being a Disc Jockey to being a craftsman.

Modise who started playing music at events back in 2013, says COVID-19 has affected his music career. He describes how he had a lot of activities to do in the music industry but was cut short. Being also a promoter he even failed to develop and oversee an event which was supposed to be on the second of May this year mostly due to issues of event attendance, number limitation, and people fearing for their health.

He then saw that he needed to change his means of survival leading to him recycling material to make Lamps. What inspired me to recycle and start making Lamps is a dream I have always been having, to do something different from other people”, he said.

Modise prides himself in being the first Motswana to make lamps with recycled material. He gives his success to the response from my people, through social media platforms .Every week he has about three customers who want his products. Seeing how his lamps have been received he plans to expand so as to employ fellow youth. He says education   is not always the key but the will and desire to learn new things and practice them is the key to success.

The Craftsman generates new ideas immediately when  he recycles new material .He is currently making lams, chairs, tables.
