November 9, was on Monday confirmed as the date on which the case between attorney Omphemetse Motumise and President Ian Khama will be heard before the High Court. Khama will in the afternoon of the same day deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) before Parliament.
At the status hearing of the matter on Monday lawyers representing Khama accepted an application by Motumise's lawyers to file complete minutes of the 1966 London Bechuanaland Constitutional Conference as part of the record. Government lawyers had earlier requested for time to consult with their client and senior counsel when the application was first brought to court two weeks ago. Khama is being sued by Motumise and the Law Society of Botswana for refusing to appoint Motumise as a high court judge following a recommendation by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
