Princess Marina Hospital Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence has just started another round of hip and knee replacement (Arthroplasty) campaign. The three-day campaign started on Sunday and will end on Tuesday. During this period 10 patients were to undergo knee replacements while eight patients get hip replacements. “There are nine females and nine males receiving replacements. Since the Centre of Excellence started in 2009 to date, 351 patients received knee and hip replacements.

The procedures are conducted in collaboration with WITS University from the Republic of South Africa. Specialists from the WITS University visit six times in a year,” said Donnell Kutlapye, the hospital’s spokesperson. Meanwhile, an Arthroplasty Surgeon based at PMH recently started the same operations. He has so far conducted five knees and one hip successful operation in two days.
