The Local Enterprise Authority hosted a delegation from the Namibia’s Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development from 18th – 19th February 2016. They were in the country on a benchmarking exercise as they prepare to establish an SMME development agency in Namibia. The visit accorded them an opportunity to learn from best practice, benefits as well as challenges encountered in starting and operating such agencies.
During the benchmarking visit, LEA took the Namibian delegation through their operations and had them visit LEA incubators being the Glen Valley Horticulture Incubator and Leather Incubator.
The SMME development agency will be aimed at coordinating interventions for SMME development in Namibia. LEA has an extensive country-wide footprint of 13 branches, which are all covered under the scope of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification.
