Botswana Public Service Union (BOPEU) has accepted the Court of Appeal judgement on the Public Service Council (PSBC). Addressing members of the media, BOPEU President Andrew Motsamai said that they are confident of meeting the threshold as per the requirement of the PSBC. The CoA has ruled that BOPEU can only be admitted into the PSBC or amalgamate with smaller union. BOPEU President hinted that should they fail to meet the threshold they will consider the amalgamation. He said that they have high regard for the courts and they will continue to respect and uphold their rulings. On whether they will meet their rival and try to mend their differences, Motsamai said that they intend to do that. “We can confirm that emotions are still stirred up; some in the leadership are unable to see the woods for the trees. We would, therefore, wait for emotions to subside and await engagement on serious workers’ issues,” he said.
