736 graduate from ABM

ABM University College recently held a graduation ceremony for 736 students from both Francistown and Gaborone campus. Of these 458 graduated with a degree under the Anglia Ruskin University. ABM’s Executive Director, Daisy Molefhi congratulated all the graduates. “We are proud that you have made good use of your time here and have achieved the results that you are celebrating today,” she said. Molefhi said as ABM University they are confident that their students are ready for the industry and she knows that they won’t disappoint as their alumni and their ambassadors. Molefhi said they are celebrating 27 years as an institution and are proud of their achievements. She said they have earned their stripes and are committed to institutional growth and that is why their relationship with Ruskin University which is about six years old.

Odumetse Seliti became the overall best student, earning himself the Chairman’s Award from Daisy Molefhi. He also got the Kgomotso Ntsatsi award. The emotional Seliti hailed ABM for the opportunities it presented him because he managed to go from nothing to something. “They took me from shame to fame, from nobody to somebody; the support and the willingness saw me through, and studying in ABM was the best decision I made about my life even though it was not a plan,” he said. Seliti has already been offered a Master’s Programme by the school and a job. Anglia Ruskin Deputy vice Chancellor Professor Lesley Dobree applauded the students for the work well done and recognised the great partnership that they have had with ABM University College over the years.

The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Vincent Seretse said that it was important that graduates go out there and create opportunities for themselves. “You should not only look at Botswana as a place of employment, the qualification you guys have can work for you anywhere,” he said. The courses that the students graduated from were Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supplies (CIPS), Human Resource Management, Secretarial Studies, Business Information Systems, Business Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Accounting and Finance,
