Khumoekae Richard, the author of the controversial book titled ‘The scandalous murdering of democracy” has challenged Kalafatis killers to speak out against the Khama administration.
Speaking at the launch of his book in Gaborone on Tuesday, he said they should expose what he calls the oppressive Khama regime by speaking out and reveal in detail what really happened.
Richard singled out Dzikamani Mothobi, a Botswana Defence Force member who together with three state security agents, Gotshosamang Sechele, Ronny Matako and Boitshoko Maifala were charged with the brutal shooting of Kalafatis in May 2009. Mothobi, was later acquitted of the murder.

Though the other three were convicted and sentenced to prison time they were set free after serving only a few months of their 11 years jail time sentence.

Richard said Mothobi is now a troubled man. He said Mothobi now fears for his life, especially with his alleged pending deployment to the anti-poaching unit, a move he thinks is intended to  eliminate him. He said  because Mothobi appeared to be a man not a peace with himself, there is only one thing that can bring him true peace , true freedom and serenity  him spy . “Mothobi must write not only a ‘no blows barred’ but ‘truthful’ book chronicling the sadistic events that bedeviled the spy community, the terror that they unleashed on the innocent society that includes public shooting in a movie-style,” said Richard.

Richard portrayed Mothobi as a victim of what he termed a ‘blood-craving and morally-repugnant regime’. He implored Mothobi to confess everything in honour of those who lost their lives to extra judicial killings. This, he said, will set him free. “The freedom he so desperately needs can only come from his tongue, telling the nation nothing else but the truth; absolute freedom will automatically descend on him. As regime change approaches, he and others must be prepared to tell the nation how they became victims and tools of the Khama current regime,” said Richard.

The author said Khama wants to silence everyone who differs with him by using the Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) to intimidate people.  “The DIS is the power base of the regime” he said. According to Richard, security agents have been dispatched and deployed to infiltrate both private and public institutions. Through the DIS, Khumoekae said Khama wants to remain a megalomaniac who controls everything.

A self- confessed member of the Botswana National Front,  which has now joined with the Botswana Movement for Democracy and Botswana People ‘s Party to form the Umbrella for Democracy ,Richard, aged 25 was expelled from his job as a lecturer at the Francistowm Technical College in what some says was politically motivated move.
