Matshaba takes over at state media

Veteran journalist Bome Matshaba has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) under ministry of State President taking over state media responsibility – a job previously held by Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo. Kaboeamodimo has been redeployed to the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development.   Government announced the appointment of Matshaba to deputy PS position responsible for Information and Broadcasting. The Moshupa-born journalist joined the Department of Information Services in 1993 and his appointment is said to have been welcomed by Mass Media employees as he is regarded as liberal who can allow them to do their work freely. Kaboeamodimo is said to have created enemies both in government and the ruling party Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) who felt that he was too powerful and viewed himself as President Khama’s right hand man.
