With Government having moved to disburse the P10m constituency funds to different areas across the country it is expected that councils will start working over-time to implement the targeted developments. With the country having 57 constituencies it means that a total of P570 million will be released. Immediately after Government announced this move various communities, wards and committees in constituencies started raising their own shopping list, declaring what they consider to be priorities on which the P10m could be spend on. This week media reports revealed the chairperson of the Tutume Sub-District Council Ishmael Mokgethi confirming that project memorandum for the three constituencies in his area amounting to P30m has been approved. Some 76 projects have been earmarked to be implemented in the three constituencies. Mokgethi said they were prepared to immediately implement the projects and urged his council officials to closely monitor the projects.
