Cresta Marakanelo Group last Friday donated linens consisting of towels, flat sheets, blankets, pillow cases and fitted sheets to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital in Ramotswa as part of their Corporate Social Investment.
During the hand over, acting Sales and Marketing Manager for Cresta, Segolame Mothibi said they are determined to uphold their commitment to being active participants in the lives of Batswana through their corporate social activities. He said they are committed to take voluntary steps to improve the quality of lives of communities where they operate business. "We go further to engage, learn, respect and support the culture of such communities," he said.
Further, Mothibi urged other organizations to join hands with Cresta to assist where they can as government alone can no longer afford to carry the burden. Cresta's scope of social responsibility is divided into two main catergories, being Environmental and Social Scope. Mothibi said that under the Environmental scope they have pledged to conduct their business in a socially responsible manner, by protecting the environment and its natural resources from where their livelihood is dependent. "Under the social aspect of our Social Responsibility Policy we are committed to continue supporting some of the Vision 2036 Pillars by working hand in hand with various government departments. We are aware that the needs of the hospital and the community go well beyond what we have donated and will continue to engage and assist where possible," he said.
Meanwhile the Hospital Advisory Committee Getrude Matsietsa commended Cresta for the gesture. She said the gesture goes a long way as it is not the first time to receive the donation. ‘Cresta is doing a good job and their efforts will not be forgotten, they have assisted this hospital and the community members with toiletries and beddings before. On behalf of the Hospital Committee we hope that Cresta will not stop here but continue assisting whenever they can ,as it is never enough especially in their environment(hospital) where such resources are constantly needed," she said.
Matsietsa revealed that Bamalete Lutheran Hospital is undergoing building a maternity ward valued at P30 million. She pleaded with other companies and individuals to assist in making the project succesful.
