The Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Unity Dow, travelled to Abuja, Nigeria on 15th October 2018 to participate in the 4th Session of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) between the Republic of Botswana and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to be held from 15 – 17 October 2018.
The JPCC will take stock of the state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in sectors such as Trade, Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Tourism and Wildlife, Medicine and Health Sciences, Sports Development, Education, Youth Development and Gender Equality, among others. The meeting will also explore potential areas for enhanced collaboration.
Following the JPCC, Dr Dow will proceed to Geneva, Switzerland to attend the World Investment Forum (WIF) 2018, scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 October 2018. The 2018 World Investment Forum, will be held under the theme “Investing in Sustainable Development". The Forum, organised biannually by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), is the pre-eminent platform that facilitates policy dialogue among a diverse community of investment stakeholders, aimed at influencing investment related policy making, as well as shaping the global investment environment, to address global challenges for investment in the 21st century.
Dow is expected to return to Gaborone on 27th October 2018.
