• I don’t have time for a spooky organisation
• Who is Leonard Emanuel?

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development (MOESD) Dr Unity Dow has dismissed a rebuttal penned by The Global Union of Experts for International Development (GUEFIND) regarding the statement she made to parliament in relation to Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in December last year.
In the 33 paged letter, GUEFIND which identifies itself as an informal union of internationally acclaimed intellectuals, serving and former public servants at ranks that include ex-ministers/cabinet members of several countries, entrepreneurs, and opinion leaders across cultures and nationalities including Batswana, it accuses Dow of misleading parliament regarding the former BIUST Vice Chancellor Professor Hillary Inyang.
The rebuttal which was signed by one Leonard Emanuel defended Professor Inyang noting that he inherited BIUST with administration in tatters and tried to put things in order albeit political interference from some council board members. GUEFIND said in the letter that there was high level of xenophobia and unscholarly attitudes by some staff members at the university and are responsible for peddling rumours against Pro. Inyang.
In December last year assistant Minister Dow briefed parliament about the on goings at the troubled science and technology university and GUEFIND call her statement as    shamefully incorrect  and regrettable.
In an interview Dow said that she does not have time to respond to an organisation that does not have an address and or phone numbers. “How can an organisation that claims to be reputable and internationally recognised spent so much energy in defending one person?” she asked rhetorically.
The former High Court judge said that she won’t respond nor talk to spooks noting that even the person who claimed to have penned the letter Leornard Emanuel is an invisible character. “I have tried to google his name and there is literally no results and if they are reputable as they claim I could have found something about his work and research papers,” she said.
Dow said that she suspects that Prof Inyang could have written the letter and created the web page to try and clear his name. The assistant minister said that GUEFIND don’t run her ministry and won’t waste time on them.
Former council chairman of BIUST Serwalo Tumelo confirmed that he is aware of the rebuttal by GUEFIND and fully support them. Tumelo who is the former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning revealed that he is going to write a rebuttal regarding what the Minister of Education and Skills Development said about him at cabinet meeting. “He told cabinet lies about me and his assistant minister also went to mislead parliament that I employed foreigners without following proper procedure,” said Tumelo.
Asked when he will make the rebuttal, Tumelo said that it will made at the right time and might use GUEFIND to address the Vice President Masisi whom he accused of trying to tarnish his name. He dismissed suggestion by Dow that the organisation does not exist, noting that he is a member of GUEFIND. “Dow must respond to that letter and stop talking about the non-existence of GUEFIND because that neither is here nor there issue,” he said.
Tumelo was removed as chairman of the BIUST council after the recommendation by cabinet and has hit out at Minister of Presidential Affairs Eric Molale and Vice president Masisi of having waged a war of character assassination against him. Tumelo dismissed some suggestion that he will approach the courts of law to have his name cleared noting that a rebuttal will be just enough.
