Botswana Premier League promotional games which were postponed last week will take place from May 23. The first leg of the two legged encounter will be played in the South region at a venue yet to be announced.
This follows a decision taken for Mogoditshane Fighters and Uniao Flamingo Santos to battle it out to determine who will play in the promotional games. Officials from Botswana Football Association (BFA) competition department confirmed that the deciding game will be played at Lekidi Artificial Turf grounds tomorrow (Wednesday) with kick-off at 15:30pm.
The decision for Fighters and Santos to face each other followed an appeal from the Gabane-based side on Fighters’ eligibility to go for playoffs after finishing second. Under normal circumstance, a team which finishes in second position in First division south faces the one which finished in the same spot on the North side.
However Santos queried that at some point Fighters benefited from soft points which boasted them to finish second. This caused the postponement of the games which were supposed to have been held last weekend. After some consultations and considerations it was decided that the two play each other to decide who go through to the playoffs.
The winner in Wednesday’s game will then take on Green Lovers on Saturday in the first leg of the playoffs. The second leg of the game will be played the following weekend in the North region at a place yet to be confirmed. The winner of the playoffs will be promoted into the BeMOBILE Premier League in the 2015/2016 season joining Jwaneng Galaxy and Miscellaneous.
